San Gabriel Valley: Whittier Narrows Nature Center, south of
Durfee Ave. and west of Peck Rd., along San Gabriel River'
drainage (El Monte 7.5’ Q.: 34°02'03"N, 118°02'4r'W, ±1000m).
Alt.: 70m/230ft. Alluvial slopes with native woodland/scrub
(Sambucus, Platanus, Baccharis> Ribes aureum, etc.) and
replanted “native” vegetation and exotic landscaping; sandy loam
soil.
Uncommon 8-10 m tree along dirt road in area, in area that was
reportedly formerly a dairy. Five trunks, each c. 10-15 inches
diam. Broad crown c. 15 m. Rough gray-brown bark.
This tree was previously collected on 10 Jul 2008, prob. # 35744.
