Lower edge of steep calcareous prairie with fringe of trees
of Quercus macrocarpa. Populus tremuloides md edge of
plantation of Pi mis strobus, P. resinosa.
Undoubtedly planted. Tree 10 m. tall, 15 cm. in diameter,
26 years old. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw,
MADw, MEXUw, NEEw, RSAw, Penn State. With
abundant cones in upper 1/4 of canopy but some even on
branches down to middle of canopy. Abundant seeds being
shed (from trauma of being knocked over by tornado, but
roots still in the ground).
