Sichuan Province, Xiangcheng Xian: Sichuan-Yunnan border
area. North side of Daxue Shan between Zhongdian and
Xiangcheng. 28°35′38″E, 99°50′49″N; 4100–4300 m. Mixed
Abies-Larix-Picea-Juniperus forest with large Rhododendron and
open talus slopes and meadows. Moist, grassy opening in forest
on gentle slope at 4100 m. Coarse, multi-stemmed herb from a
massive woody rootstock; fruit immature, green. DNA material
available.
