Montane coniferous forest, open canopy. Northwest-facing
slope. Growing next fo dirt road. Some trees have Forest
Service tags from 1998, "Tree improvement" and "Selected
tree for genetics". Substrate mostly pine duff, some
decomposed granite, and loam, silt, and sand. Common.

Associated species; Chrysoiepis sempervlrens,
Arctostaphyios patuia, Abies magnifies var. critchfieidii,
Penstemon sp.
