In woods skirting the upper limit of the oogon grass
at 1500 feet; stem 40 feet high 2 to 3 feet thick, branched
from below the middle; main branches erect, ultimately
widely spreading; wood hard, heavy, brittle, dull yellow,
without Wt* or odor; bark light gray or somewhat
yellowish oo, ateeUHMnto fine linear plates; twigs

spreading horizontally or descending, the margins wavy,
