Asteraceae Det. by Ben Legler, Aug 2003 Russian Federation, Sakhalin Region: Sakhalin Island, east coast; mouth of Tukhaya River ca 17 km north of town of Vzmor’ye and 70 km south of Makarov. 40m/131ft. Steep windswept slopes and cliffs above beach, with some dwarfed Betula forest in depressions, mostly lower growing herbs and talus on exposed slopes; parent rock partly calcareous. Flowers yellow; robust plants to 1 meter tall with branched stems; in sand on edge of beach.
