Hypochaeris radicata L. Sp. Pl. 811. 1753. A plant not recorded as growing in the Hawaiian group. It is about twenty inches high, with smooth, slender stem, branch- ing above, and destitute of leaves, which are all crowded to- gether as a bunch of prostrate lyrate root leaves. The yellow heads are an inch in diameter. Collected on the plateau above Waimea, Kauai. It grows on the edge of the forest, at 4000 feet elevation, and must have been introduced in some way from Australia, as it grows in that country. September 30 (2835); original locality, "in Europae cultoris pascuis." PLANTS OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS. COLLECTED ON THE ISLAND OF KAUAI, ON KAHOLUAMANOA, ABOVE WAIMEA, BY A. A. HELLER, SEPTEMBER 24-30, 1895. 2835. *Hypochaeris radicata L.* NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN HERBARIUM COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, NEW YORK.
