9760. *Eugenia jambolana* Lam.  Gnarly appearing stems 1 foot in diameter, rather crooked; branches subhorizontally spreading and crookedly branched; bark brown, deeply and rather finely checked into plates; old bark thick, fibrous, that on the branches smooth and yellowish gray; coriaceous leaves conduplicate on the upper side, subglaucous green beneath, equally smooth on both sides; inflorescence diversely spreading, from the apex, leaf axils or from the branches, usually profuse on certain limbs only; stalks greenish; corolla greenish yellow, falling very early; calyx yellowish with pink tips, orange red on the interior; filaments pale white, anthers more yellow, style orange red toward the base, otherwise as the filaments; wood dull white, coarsely grained, odorless, moderately hard; "Lumboy."
