12792* Mussaenda $hiliplea Eich. Quite ® slender
tree in compact soil of the oogon region end bordering the
woods at 250 feet: stem 8 inches thick, 20 feet high, terete,
crooked, branched from above the middle; wood moderately
hard, odorless and without taste, dingy white; bark brown,
densely lentioelled, pale umber except the epidermis; main
branches ascending, freely rebranched; leaves ascending
and strongly recurved, thinly coriaceous, deeply folded upon
the darker green upper side; inflorescence erect, green
as is also the calyx; corolla greenish on the outside, the
segments on the outside with the!« tips very pile green, the
upper side aurantiacus; the outer calyx segment of the cuter 3
