South Africa. Kwazulu Natal., Along coastal road, 20 km north of Richards bay
to Mapelane, along RBM beach turn off: 28° 39.689' S: 32° 15.399* E.

Coastal dune with gentle E slope, well-drained soil of aeolian windblown sand of
tertiary seabeds. Shade to full sun. Native, rare. Reclaimed mined sand dunes
covered in dune forest with Acacia karroo, Bracbylaena discolor, Tinospora
caflra.
Perennial climber, 15 m long stems, 5 cm in diam. Black green. Stem tendrils
present. Leaves simple, alternate, lamina deeply lobed, herbaceous. Capsule, lxl
cm, many seeds, discoid, 2 mm in diam.
