On coastal flats in disturbed soil, full sun. In well-drained soil of sandstone
sand. Exotic. Fynbos, with Chrysanthemoides, Mesembryanthemum,
Orthosiphon and Ficinia.
Annual tufted grass, 10-60 cm high. Leaves 30-150x12 cm, alternate, with
fluffy, white membranous ligule. Florets in a compact panicle..
