Grassland with Juncus rigidus, Pentzia globosa, Eragrostis lehmanniana, Diplachne and Cirsium vulgare. Perennial hemicryptophytic sedge, 1 m high. Hard, unpalatable sedge with stiff lignacious culums. Leaves simple, glabrous, alternate, long, cylindrical with spinose apex. Base of culms brown and arising from subterranean rhizome.
