H. J. Venter, 2002 South Africa. Mpumalanga. Steelpoort, Chuniespoort: 24° 16.191’ S: 29° 50.817 E On gentle southern slope of plateau, pasture in frill sun. In well-drained soil of dolomite sand. Native and common. Savanna, with Acacia spp.and Balanites maughamii. Tree 6 m high, 10 cm DBH, bark relatively rough and greyish-brown, wood yellow and very hard, roots yellow, very hard. Simple leaves alternate, hairy, silvery coloured due to indumentum, leaf margins entire. Small, greenish- creamy coloured, aromatic flowers in racemes.
