Scrubland, with Euphorbia stenoclada, very mixed,
on sandy soil.
Alt. 190 m
Woody shrub with few, thick, pale grey branches;
leaves on short shoots and clustered in young
growths near the tips of the branches. Leaves mostly
3-4-foliolate; leaflets alternating, blue-green above
and beneath, coriaceous. Flowers solitary from short
shoots, c. 3 cm long; pedicel glandular, with 2
membranous, purplish bracts. Calyx cup-shaped,
with some glandular hairs, with 4 short spreading
teeth, the lowest porrect and longest with glandular
hairs. Standard c. 18x18 mm, bright yellow with
some slender pale brown veins from the base, cream
yellow behind. Wings bright yellow, oblong, c. 16
mm long (without claw), appressed to the keel; keel
pale creamy yellow. Pods green, stalked, glandular,
with ± 3-4 oblique seeds. Leaves and especially
glandular pods and flower calyces scented when
crushed, of bitter grapefruit.
