! T.M. Moura Jan. 2020 FLORA OF MADAGASCAR Mucuna paniculata Baker E Madagascar, Toamasina (Tamatave) Province, Cap Masoala, SE of Maroansetra, NW area of the peninsula, East of Hiaraka. Disturbed and cut area with Zingiberaceae, some cultivated cloves, vanilla, coffee, on steep bank of red-lateritic soil. Alt. 100 m Climbing shrub with twining stems, reaching c. 8 m tall. Leaves mid-green, shortly acuminate. Inflorescences long, pendulous, with a cluster of fruits near the apex. Fruits ± oblong, flat, dark brown, with a prominent wing around the sutures and numerous wing-like flanges over the surfaces, interspersed with numerous stiff red-brown bristles. Seeds sub-spherical, somewhat compressed, uniform dark brown, with a long dark hilum. D.J. & B.P. Du Puy 23.4.89 M210 04810477
