    Sprawling and numerously branched shrub, 3 meters high or when subscandent much higher; wood rather tough; bark smooth, dark brown covered with lighter brown very numerous lenticels; leaves dark green but paler beneath; legumes pendulous, much compressed and dry. "Upe" - the stems are pounded to a pulp put in the water for killing fish - it is said to be sour.
