GABON, ESTUAIRE, Crystal Mountains. 3 km NE of
Kinguete, road to Tchimbele. In forest edge.
0°28.1'N, 10°17.8' E Alt: 230m
Tree, c. 40 m tall. Diam. at 2 m height 1.20 m. Bole with small,
broad buttresses. Leaflets leathery, above glossy, dark green,
midrib pale green, beneath glossy, medium green, greenish-
yellow at base, midrib greenish-yellow, pale green at margin.
Bracts outside dark brown, at base and margins whitish, inside
pale green. Pedicel and bracteoles outside white, but at its
brown indumentum it seems pale brown with a dark brown rib
over the bracteole, inside of bracteoles white. Sepals white,
outside with brown indumentum. Petal white (sometimes 2).
Filaments white, but innerside of staminal tube dark purple-red.
Anthers purple with pale brown to whitish slibs. Ovary and
style white, densely covered by long hairs, hairs are white at the
base, brown towards the apex. Stigma pale yellow, some
flowers with not entirely developed ovary and style. Young
pods densely covered by dark brown hairs with silky glance,
young pods pale green.
