over. Bark dark grey to almost black, v. rough, with irreg.
longit. fissures. Slash, OB dark rbown, very hard, up to 1 cm*
IB pale buff, 0*5 to 1 cm.
Habitat Dominant in centre long narrow thicket, with
Berchemia discolor, Lonchocarpus nelsii, Strychnos stuhlmanii
riarge sizes) along fringes, & with dense thicket undergrowth
Popowia» Bremna, Alfaizia anthelmintica (from surrounding
monane). Brythrococca menyharthii. Croton scheffieri, Dj.chro-
stachys. Nos. 7ft5,7ftft»7ft1 setc., on dark humic sandy clay
TalTuvial soil). An almost closed canopy formed by the Acacia.
