    Flat llanos with patches of scrub, Copernicia alba. Common.

  • Description

    Young tree 4 m. tall, others here to 8 m. or more. Trunk smooth, 20 cm. in diameter, with some spreading black spines. Crown with ca, 18 leaves, more mature plants with ca. 22 leaves per crown, promptly deciduous. Rachis of leaf spiny. Inlforescences among the leaves, in all stages of maturity from flowers to mature fruits now; spathe 80 cm. long; peduncle 20 cm. long; rachis of inflorescence 45 cm. long; fruit green, globose. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
