A slender herb up to 1ft. tall with thin glaucous stems with a small corm- likeswelling at the base from which a thin woody rhizome is produced, leaves few, bright green slightly channelled, spikelets pale brown and slightly glos- sy, long and narrow, clustered in an umbel at the apex of a 3—angular pedun- cle. Not common in muddy sand on a wet sandbank with Cyperus articulatus- Panicum repens as co—dominants. K. 7, Galana River, M* 0.5, from Sobo Rocks, 500ft. alt., Tsavo National Park East; 9/1/1967. P.
