Ridge above Sungai Ella. 0°38'S 112°17'E Alt: 410 m Habitat: Mixed dipterocarp forest, associates include Myrtaceae, Meliaceae, Shorea, Burseraceae. Red clay soil. Field Char: Tree c. 12 m tall, 32 cm dbh. Outer bark brown, flaking in large pieces. Inner bark pale yellow, crumbling. Wood sweet aroma. Twigs with brown indumentum. Leaves velutinous beneath, glabrous above. Young fruits pale yellow, waxy, turning dark pink; stamens persistent; stigma excentric at Notes: Local name: Tempak sumpuri.
