  • Description

    Several stemmed shrub; stem erect, 3 to 5 feet high, mostly branched above the middle, terete, the thickness of an ordinary lead pencil; wood sappy white, odorless and tasteless; bark deep brown, thinly checked longitudinally; upper leaves ascending, hanging when old, sub-coriaceous, strongly recurved and conduplicate on the upper surface, much lighter green beneath; calyx segments reddish; petals bluish pink; style red, bearing a small green stigma; filaments and lower portion of anthers light yellow, tips of the anthers red; flowers odorless; fruits sub-globose, ½ inch thick or less ; "Basing".
