of Sungai Ella and environs.

Habitat:
Mixed dipterocarp forest, associates include Shorea,
Myrtaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Rubiaceae. Red clay soil.
Field Char:
Shrub 2.5 m tall. Branches brown, fissured narrowly,
hirsute. Uppersurface leaves dark green.
Undersurface leaves pale green, densely covered
with white villous hairs. Calyx tube densely covered
by pinkish-red villous hairs. Petals bright purple.
Style pink. Stamens purple.
