  • Description

    Stem 10 inches thick, wadded, crooked, branched from below the middle, 20 feet high or higher: branches widely spreading. laxly rebranched: wood strongly ringed, moderately hard, dingy white, odor-less and tasteless: bark yellowish and with gray blotches, smooth except the coarse lenticels: twigs numerous brown: leaves mostly horizontal, recurved, rough and paler green beneath, chartaceous: pedicals green, ascending, gradually thickened towards the ends: the buds or rather the young fruits solidly enclosed by the green bracts: stigmatic arms yellowish: ripe fruit shining, pale yellow nearly from the side view: the subtending bracts rotately spreading, whitish on the inner side. otherwise green: fruit juicy. sweet, usually with a single stone-like globose seed: "Lampataki:" Sapwood or bark with a pale whitish sap.
