Locality: Near Cape Gloucester Patrol Post,
Talasea, New Britain, altitude 50 feet.
Habitat: Secondary forest.
Annot. Tree; buttresses 3 ft. high by *
2 feet; concave. Height 50 feet, bole
20 feet, d.b.h. 14 inches. Bark purplish-
grey, with white and grey patches; horizont-
ally ribbed; fissured with rows of small
lenticeis. Blaze red. Odourless, exudate
present. Wood light red becoming darker
toward heart /’rings” abundant. Leaves dark
green above; yellow-green below. Fruit
yellow; red whén ripe.
