Locality: Ljnga Linga Plantation, Talasea,
New Britain, altitude 30 feet.
Lat. 5 28 S	Long, 149 40 E
Habitat: Occupying low hill arising from
swampy ground planted with coconuts.
Ann ot. Banyan tree, crown ^ver 100 feet
in diameter; trunks in the hundreds;
height 90 feet. Bark dark orange-brown,
becoming grey when older, peeling in thin
layers laterally; covered with rigidly
horizontal rows of raised lentieels. Blaze
dirty white (branches pink to white) tough.
Wood cream. Odour absent; sticky, milky
exudate abundant. Leaves dark green above*
green below, slightly glaucous. Midrib
yellow; leaf-buds red. Fruit orange.
