Description
Tree; trunk 2 feet thick, 35 feet high, branched from below the middle; wood soft, coarse, sappy white, slightly sweet, odorless; bark brown, obscurely lenticelled, otherwise smooth, brownish red beneath the epidermis with latex; main branches divaricate, the twigs green and suberect, branchlets quite slender; leaves chartaceous, mostly descending, more or less folded upon the upper side, shining above, paler beneath, tips strongly recurved; inflorescence erect, in pairs from the leaf axis, upon terete 2 to 3 inches long dark green stalks; head light yellow, obovoid, ½ to ¾ inch long, dry and more or less spongy; "Cube";.
