  • Description

    A large tree, stem terete, wadded toward the base, 50 feet high, branched toward the top; wood hard, slightly bitter, the outer 2 inches maple white, the balance between olivaceous and flavovireus, quite hard, the change of colours is very abrupt; bark checked, brown, scaling in small plates, the inner side white and with milky sap, otherwise latericious: main branches widely spreading and crooked, ultimately numerously re-branched, twigs flexible and with green sub-erect tips; leaves ascending or horizontal, thinly coriaceous or sub-chartacecus, flat or shallowly folded upon the upper deeper green surface; inflorescence fulvous brown, solitary or in pairs from the leaf axils, the erect stalks of the same color.
