  • Description

    Gregarious. Pileus 4-8 cm broad, obtusely conic with incurved to inrolled margin when young, becoming convex to plane and umbonate, usually dry on disc and viscid at margin, viscid overall when wet, with fine, brown, appressed squamules, more dense on disc, more dispersed toward margin, overlaying a yellow (2-3A6) ground color. Flesh white, unchanging, up to 1 cm thick, with slight farinaceous odor, definite farinaceous taste. Lamellae adnexed to emarginate, crowded, bright yellow (2A7-6-5), unchanging, with even to uneven edges. Stipe 4-13 cm long, 8-10 mm broad, equal, strict or curved at the base, dry, fibrillose, bright yellow (2A7-6-5) overall, but white on the base, discoloring a pale brown from handling, with interior white, solid,becoming hollow. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
