    Stems tough, terete, green, covered with light gray marcescent sheaths; leaves ascending, membrancous, ascending and recurved, similar green on both sides, folded on the upper side; erect stalks green but violaceous tinged especially at the nodes; flowers odorless, soft in texture, white with violaceous tinged tips;.
