    Roots thick, few, fleshy; stem sheathed, a few inches in the soil; leaves reclining, much narrowed and grooved toward the base, subcoriaceous, similarly pale green on both sides, more or less grooved along the midvein on the upper surface, keeled on the lower side; peduncle erect, whitish; flower odorless, usually only one to each plant, rich deep yellow throughout;.
