    In mixed forest of Abies grandis, Pseudotsuga menziesii, about 20 ft. from a wheat field that was made by clearing forest largely of Pinus ponderosa.

  • Description

    One particular tree typically Abies concolor [THIS SPECIMEN}, with stiff blunt upturning needles strongly grayish-stomatiferous striped on both side [in drying over heat the grayish color has been lost], most other firs in are "good" Abies grandis, but at least two trees seen adjacent to this with more or less evident dorsal stripe of stomata, evidently the introgression toward A. grandis. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
