  • Description

    A looping tree climber. Stem terete, 3/4 inch thick, sappy white, flexible, porous, more or less ringed every inch or two, provided with scattering spines of a soft and blunt nature; bark yellowish gray, smooth, green beneath the epidermis; branches scattered but more numerous toward the top where they form interlaced masses, slender, half drooping with green suberect tips; leaves alternate, arranged along the branchlets, ascending from the caniculate base, gracefully recurved otherwise, thickly coriaceous, heavy, deep shining green on the upper creased surface, a trifle paler beneath; inflorescence erect, creamy white, 3-5- spicate, the subtending lowermost bracts with green slender tips, the basal portion of the thick caducous bracts nearly salmon yellow, very sweetly fragrant.

is woods st 8000 feet, on the trail to Jgspana, in sticky red
clay* stem terete, 3/4 inch thick, sappy white, flexible,
porous, more or less ringed every inch or two, provided with
scattering spines oS a soft and blunt nature; bark yellowish
gray* smooth, green beneath the epidermis; branches soattered
but more numerous toward the top where they form interlaced

from the oanieulate base, gracefully recurved otherwise,
