    in very moist gravelly soil of dense woods on a steep slope of the Baracatan creek ravine.

  • Description

    stem 25 feet high, 4 inches thick; wood moderately hard yellowish throughout, without odor or taste; bark smooth, blotched with brown and gray; branches mostly at the top, comparatively short, horizontally spreading, crookedly rebranched, the lower limbs having fallen and leaving large scars along the upper portion of the stem; branchlets slender, almost flexible; leaves horizontally spreading, articulated at the enlarged nodes; leaflets thinly coriaceous, horizontal or descending, dark green above, much lighter green or yellowish so beneath, only the tips recurved; infrutescence axillary or lateral, suberect and a few inches long, or a foot long and somewhat drooping; stalks green; fruits arranged in whorls, ellipsoid, 1 inch long, ½ inch thick, yellowish but turning red.
