Description
Medium-sized tree, 45 ft. high with a 2 ft. thick stem; wood soft, white odorless and tasteless; bark gray brown on the branches green on the twigs, 1 in. thick, reddish brown beneath the epidermis, smoothish or obscurely lenticelled, the young bark easily stripping; branches widely spreading, the ultimate ones slender and horizontal; leaves horizontal or descending, submembranous usually folded upoon the upper deep green surgace, grayish green beneath; inflorescence erect or nearly so from the leaf axils, green except the brown buds; old infrutescence on the branches persistent, ascednging, the flattened fruits 1/2 inch high, fully that in width; covered with yellowish brown hairs.
