Habítete. Small tree, dense, round crown, 9M dbh., 16» I
aigh. Bark rough, dark grey, Slash, OB, a very curious pale I
orown, like dried cow-manure, ± 1 cm. IB, pale buff-pink, I
granular 1 cm. Clusters of firs, on all but primary branches
a few only on secondary branches but all others comparatively
iensely covered. Fairl:r long flowering period, from early Ap-
ril till now, wfo&n there are jrast a few firs. left. Inner sui*
face of petals waxy white, outer surface cffivpred rusty brown i
lairs. Fli^^ith very strong, sweet scent which may be per- |
reived some distance from the tree in late afternoon.
In selectively cleared Baikiaea, Brachystegia spiciformi^ |
Julbemardia globiflora, Pterocarpus angolensis, Guibourtla
ioleosperma woodlan37" with ?seud~olachnostyli s maprouneifol ia,
3trych.nos pungens, C. cocculoides etc. on red Kalahari/
farroo mixture sand.
