Ada Hayden Herbarium Iowa State University Flora of Iowa Valeriana edulis Nutt. Bremer Co.: Lafayette Township T92N R14W Sec 12 N2 SE4 SE4 NW4 Site is approximately 6 miles SE of Plainfield. Ray Prairie, a private, 8 acre mesic to wet-mesic prairje. The prairie was probably hayed in the past, but is now inactive and is a good quality prairie. The prairie was burned in the spring of 1989 by the Bremer County Conservation Board. The soil here is primarily Clyde clay loam (Ck), a Typic Haplaquoll. The prairie is on the Iowan Surface. 300+ genets scattered in mesic to wet-mesic prairie. Associated with Achillea millefolium, Comandra umbellata, Dodecatheon meadia, Eryngium yuccifolium, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Sorghastrum nutans and Zizia aurea. Mark J.
