Symplocos paniculata (Thunb.) Miq.
shrub 2 m tall, drupes bright blue,
fleshy
growing in Quercus alba, Q. velutina,
Carya forest; the understory is very
open, of native species except for
large patches of Hedera helix. No
cultivated S. paniculata are nearby,
but one was recently removed near the
main entrance to the herb Garden
about 2 00 m away
Gentle East facing slope between Lee
Garden and Eagles Nest Road near the
edge of the Azalea Garden. U.S.
