Apocynaceae
Apocynum cannabinum L.
Along path through downslope edge of Pinus strobus
savanna right above lakeshore. Under edge of pines
with sparse vegetation: Dactylis glomerata, Potentilla
simplex, Symphyotrichum lateriflorum, Vitis riparia,
little else. Under Alnus incana ssp. rugosa
along lakeshore in thicker, grassier vegetation w/
Desmodium glutinosum, Galium asprellum, Onoclea
sensibilis, Rubus idaeus ssp. strigosus, and Scirpus
atrovirens. Plants 4--8-branched above, branches
widely ascending; Ivs horizontally divergent or some
slightly declined; cor. pure white. Two strip-shaped
colonies along trail along N shore, one 20 yds long
near E end of lake, the second a population of 240
stems along a 50-yd.-long stretch right above W-
central part of lake.
