Shrub 1.5 m. tall, the trunk 15 cm. diameter at the base, the
stems rapidly tapering upwards; leaves few. Cut stems with
copious watery sap, with discrete points of milky sap.
Flowers with bright red limb, the tube red-pink on outside,
yellow-green with red stripes within.
