DESCRIPTION: Herb, 0.5-1 m tall. All parts of the plant, particulary the roots are
used as a local anesthetic, especially for dental problems. (Information from Jose
Armas, a Campa Indian living in the region for 20-30 years but originally from farther
NW.)
