DEPT. LORETO: Prov. Maynas. Distrito Napo. Environs of Rio Santa Maria. Collected on trail east of Secoya village of "Vencedor", 4 hours by outboard from mouth of the Santa Maria River. Approx. 1°10'S., 74°44fW. Shrub to 3 m. tall. Flower spike to 7.5 cm. botanical gard^ NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN n.v. "niu weoko" The leaves are chewed to clean the mouth and teeth.
