Acad. 7: 389. 1868. No. 7979, collected June 5, on wet banks along the rail- road near Shasta Springs, Siskiyou county, where it is abund- ant. This species is much more common in California than L. leucostachys, with which it has been confused. The type was collected, in Arizona- by Thurber.
