Bog with Sphagnum, Ledum groenlandicum,
Chamaedaphne calyculata, Sarracenia purpurea,
Eriophorum, with scattered and stunted Picea mariana,
Larix laricina and with Nemopanthus mucronata, Ilex
verticillata at lower edge of wooded slope.
Tree 4 m. tall, 6.5 cm. in diameter, with erect central trunk.
Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw,
MEXUw, RSAw, Penn State. Immature cones purple; old
brown cones hanging downwards.
