U.S.A. Aceraceae Acer spicatum Lam. det. M. Nee, 2018 Michigan, Gogebic Co., Ottawa National Forest, 6.8 km N of Hwy. 2 in Bessemer, along FR 484. 46°32’33”N, 90°02’42”W. alt. 385 m Nearly flat forest of Acer saccharum, Betula alleghaniensis, Fraxinus nigra, F. americana, Tilia americana, Tsuga canadensis. Salix eriocephala, S. bebbiana only at edge where some light. Slender, unbranched shrub, 3.5 m. tall, 3 cm. in diameter, ca. 10 years old. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw.
