    Forest on sandy soils, terrain deeply dissected by streams draining low mountains. Canopy discontinuous, high density of small trees. Swamp dominated by Lepidocaryum. Common.

    Herb to 1.8 m, inflorescence to 80 cm, inflorescence bracts green, corolla yellow. Few fertile. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
