Tree 25> feet high, deciduous, milky sap; bears male catkins and 3-celled female flower. Sap poisonous and causes blindness (antidote, cow’s milk). Wood used for fences, walking sticks, torches; cut only in certain months. Also fish toxicant. Flat sandy forest area with Copaifera, Sclerocarya, Combretum, Spirostachys, and others.
