VAN BALGOOY Melanolepis multiglandulosa CELEBES, Sulawesi Utara, Bolaang Mongon- dow, Dumoga Bone National Park, Toraut Dam. c. 0°34*N, 123°54'E ALT. 220 m.__DATE 4-IV-1985 Remnant primary forest trees left after removal of the forest. Alluvial flat, deep clayey volcanic soil locally water- logged. Tree 15 m high. Clear bole 9 m, 21 cm dbh, without buttresses. Outer bark 0.2 mm thick, ochrish grey, regularly shal- lowly grooved, not peeling off. Inner bark 4 mm thick, out pale ochre, in cream-coloured, with gum-like exudate. Sapwood 2—3 mm thick, cream-coloured, heartwood light ochre. Flowers ochre. Fruits young, green. Vem. Atu (Kotamobagu lang. )• Wood used for making guitars.
