  • Habitat

    Western face sandstone serra with horizontally bedded rocks. Rock outcrops at higher altitudes, with humid forest in rocky declivity below summit. Extensive grassland and marsh on lower slopes and small streams with woodland.

  • Description

    Spindly subshrub to about 50 cm. with stems bare below. Leaves slightly viscid, dark green. Sepals dark red. Petals deep pink with base of limb in upper petals yellow. Pods purplish red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
