A tree 40 feet high, trunk ¾ foot diameter.
Outer bark grey-brown with short irregular
longitudinal fissures and with
pustular lenticels; inner bark dark purple

on the outside, reddish and paler inwards
within, ca. ½ inch thick, copiously
exuding latex when cut. Wood whitish pale
straw. Leaves dark glossy green above,
paler beneath; fruits green and 3-
angled.
